Lucy & Callums Eco Friendly Wedding at The Mill at Conder Green

It was love at first sight with Lucy and Callum, we met them at The Mill at Conder Green at a wedding fair and they were drawn to our eco table displays which we were exhibiting. We were trying to appeal to couples who were less worried about knowing exactly which varieties of foliages and flowers were going into their arrangements but more about the environmental impact of their choices.

Lucy and Callum knew we were the florist for them and booked us there and then – we met a couple of months later to discuss all the finer details and some of Lucy’s favourite flowers which could be included. We all knew we wanted this wedding to feel; organic, fresh, a little bit wild but elegant at the same time. Here’s what we did.

The Happy Couple

Now, we must point out, we didn’t make the bouquet for Lucy as she was marrying at a church some way away in her home town, but the pair loved the Mill, so were willing to travel here with the family to stay – so we made sure we were working in sync with the same floral palette as the home town florist so this wasn’t a problem whatsoever.

But, we had to share this picture of the happy couple.

Those Tall Arrangements 😍

This image has become an iconic view of The Bowland Suite at The Mill and you can see why.

The arrangements have presence, stood on large gold frames, delicate lighting from suspended tealights create ambience but still allow guest to chat without obstruction.

We created the displays using majority foraged foliage from our own garden and also some from our local gardeners collective who passionately nurture their garden all year round and provide us with their surplus flowers and foliage. This helps us to maintain control of wedding budgets but also allows us to provide sustainable arrangments without thousands of travel miles and plastic packaging.

The Finer Details

It wasn’t all big tall arrangments, in fact, it was quite the opposite.

To balance the room we created some delicate displays on half of the tables, consisting of small bud vases on log slices with candle votives and some carefully selected blooms which were understated, rustic, but with an elegant twist. I loved this wedding.

When considering table centrepieces we think is a great hack for creating impact through mixing with larger displays, but also balancing out budgets.

We positioned all of the displays so no two the same were next to each other. This promised a new perspective whichever way the guests turned.

Ohhh The Rustic Chandeliers!

We’ll confidently call ourselves trendsetters as we decided to decorate the rather rustic fitting lights at the venue with some rather rustic displays. Fresh, foraged foliage, eucalyptus and pops of flowers were painstakingly wired on to the light fittings along with ivy trails. It was perfect and a feast for the eyes.

It, therefore, wasn’t a surprise that many future couples opted for this design.
